Our Department Participated in ICBESS 2025 with Two Proceedings

Our department achieved a significant international success by participating with two academic papers in the 2025 International Conference on Business, Engineering and Social Sciences (ICBESS 2025), held on 17–19 November 2025 in collaboration between our university and Foundation University Islamabad.

Recognized as a reputable scientific venue, ICBESS 2025 brings together multidisciplinary research conducted at the intersection of business, engineering, and the social sciences, and hosts scholars from around the world. The studies presented by our department attracted considerable attention for their scientific originality and application potential.

Detection of Nail Anomalies Using Deep Learning

The paper titled Development of a Deep Learning Based Mobile Decision Support System for Diagnosis of Nail Anomalies, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Serkan DİŞLİTAŞ, introduced an original approach integrating deep learning techniques with mobile health applications and medical informatics. The study was carried out by our department’s students Senanur OKUDUCU, Rumeysa Gül ÖZDAĞ and Sena Elif TELLİ. The development process was further strengthened by the contributions of Dr. Kenan GENÇOL from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program. The system developed within the scope of this study offers a decision-support infrastructure enabling the detection of nail anomalies via deep learning models operating on mobile devices. In this respect, the work exemplifies an innovative health technology that may be integrated into clinical practice in the future.

A Model Enhancing Prediction Performance in Digital Advertising

The second paper presented at the conference, titled Improving Ad-Click Prediction Through Feature Extraction and Ensemble Models Optimization, was prepared by our students Ceyda ÇAĞ, Neslihan AKBULUT and Yusuf ÇANKIRLI. The study focuses on advanced machine learning methods aimed at addressing the ad-click prediction problem in digital advertising with higher accuracy. The combined use of feature extraction and ensemble model optimization approaches contributes to more effective modeling of user interaction data. With this aspect, the study holds valuable potential for both academic research and sectoral applications.

Strengthening Our International Visibility

The two papers presented at the conference demonstrate the active involvement of our students in research processes, their academic productivity, and the strong interdisciplinary research culture sustained under the guidance of their academic supervisors. With its representation at ICBESS 2025, our university has further reinforced its presence in international academic events. This success also represents an important step toward expanding scientific collaborations and developing new research projects.
